Participants Feedback & Message from the Organizers

Feedback from Participants of the 2nd International Hybrid Power Systems Workshop in San Juan, Puerto Rico (2016):

“The last workshop in San Juan was an excellent opportunity to engage with experts from around the world and begin a strategic discussion about the future of energy in island power systems. This workshop has a potential of growing into a major international event bringing together experts from various segments of energy industry to address resiliency and survivability aspects of island grids on a global scale.”

Vahan Gevorgian, Chief Engineer for Grid Integration, NREL

“The International Hybrid Power Systems Workshop in Puerto Rico was an excellent forum to learn about the leading applications of hybrid power systems. Presentations on several case studies were particularly useful to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges that need to be addressed or have been successfully addressed in this rapidly evolving field. The workshop provided ample opportunities to network with experts and get questions answered in detail.”

Mahesh Morjaria, VP PV Systems Development, First Solar

“The Puerto Rico workshop was a very constructive and focused deep dive into the issues related with renewable integration on island power systems. The intimate setting allowed for direct networking and collaboration with other experts deeply involved in the field.”

Derek Stenclik, Manager Power Systems Strategy, GE Energy Consulting

“The Workshop provided an excellent forum for exchange of ideas with broad participation from Industry experts. Outstanding event overall!”

Durgesh Manjure, Grid Operations, MISO

Message from the Organizers:

“High share of renewables in isolated power systems is possible and is already today a cost competitive solution for many island power systems around the world. This is the perfect event to share knowledge and experience with industry and academic experts and also the ideal opportunity for networking.”

Dr. Thomas Ackermann, Energynautics

“Applications of renewable energy on isolated systems are growing quickly with the ongoing decline in renewable energy and energy storage costs. This workshop offers a great mix of system design and technology application information, institutional experience and case studies directly relevant to those working in this field. Come learn from the experts and each other about the latest developments and lessons learned.”

J. Charles Smith, Utility Variable-Generation Integration Group (UVIG)
