Travelling to the Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands are a North Atlantic archipelago island country.

They are located 320 km north-northwest of Scotland, and about halfway between Norway (580 km) and Iceland (430 km).

Please check visa/passport requirements as the Faroe Islands are NOT part of the Schengen Area. This applies primarily to foreign residents in EU countries who are no  citizens of the country they live in.

Flight times

The quickest connection from continental Europe to Faroe Islands is from Copenhagen. Atlantic Airways and Scandinavian Airlines offer between two to four direct flights from Copenhagen to the Faroe Islands each day, depending on the season.

Please note that the airline capacity for the Faroe Islands flights is limited and thus the flexibility for flight dates is limited as well. We strongly recommend booking your flight early to ensure you get the flight times and dates you want.

There are no restrictions for travellers from Denmark to the Faroe Islands. Travellers from other destinations are covered by the rules for entering the Kingdom of Denmark.
